Fountains Abbey

While we were visiting Pete in Yorkshire he took us to visit Fountains Abbey. I was amazed how much of it is still standing, considering that it was partially destroyed during the dissolution of the monastries, and by how large it is.

This is the water mill building. The mill was used for grinding corn and sawing timber and later for generating electricity.

We also walked through the wooded grounds and beside the water gardens.
