John arrives

It was with great excitement that we went up to MPA on the afternoon of Monday Dec 29th to meet John. I'm not sure he believed me (or still does) when I told him we had been having lovely hot sunny weather before Christmas as it has been very cold and wet since. It was lovely to see himn and all the goodies he brought with him. In the evening we took him to Gypsy Cove to see his first penguins.

We then packed up for our planned trip to the West. However as the weather got increasingly stormy we got a phone call to say the ferry would probably not be running the next day, which it didn't. However Simon and John enjoyed windsurfing together in the harbour and I relaxed with a book and we got ourselves organised for an early start the next day having been assured the ferry should be running then.
